Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette Review

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip palette is not the newest makeup item out, but to me it is definitely one of the most exciting! As someone who is entering the world of freelance makeup I've been exploring products that will offer great quality for the price. Individual lipsticks are great for personal use, but can be pricey for someone applying makeup to multiple clients so Lip palettes are a great, cost effective way to get variety in your kit.

While lip palettes are nothing new, this one by Anastasia Beverly Hills is the first in the the company's line up of lip products, which currently features liquid lipsticks and lip glosses.

I purchased my palette at Ulta for $48 USD plus tax. The palette has 18 shades, which includes 4 primary shades for mixing and creating your own customs lip shade. The finish is matte and creamy and long wearing. The two shades I found to be a bit streaky were the white and yellow, which I personally wouldn't wear alone anyway, but if you like a stark yellow or white lipstick these would be difficult to wear by themselves. They are, however, perfect for mixing, which I think is their intended use. The palette also includes a dual ended lip brush/spatula and a metal palette to mix the colors.

Who is this palette for? Makeup artists, freelancers, and extreme lipstick junkies! This is probably not necessary for the everyday person who might need to touch up during the day. It's unlikely you'd want to lug around a whole lip palette in your bag for the day.

Another thing to think about is if you do make a custom color, consider writing down the components of your mix in case you really love it and want to recreate that color. Anastasia Beverly Hills has an idea book on their website in case you're seeking inspiration!

Overall, I think this palette is an amazing buy if you love being creative with your lip colors and/or plan to use this for multiple people. As with any matte formula be sure to treat your lips to a nice scrub and lip balm before application to get a smooth, clean look. Most importantly, if you do pick up this palette, enjoy!
